Alpine Space Capacity Training for Ecological Connectivity
This hands-on training course covers the fundamentals of ecological connectivity and biodiversity in the Alpine region. It is designed for experts, planners, and other relevant groups.
The course addresses the question of how planning can safeguard biodiversity and landscape permeability. Which instruments are suitable for both spatial and sectoral planners? The Interreg Alpine Space project 'PlanToConnect' has designed training materials for spatial and sectoral planners specialising in nature conservation, transport, and landscape planning in agricultural areas. These materials can also be used in educational settings to address these issues.
The Alpine Space Capacity Training provides a platform for discussing the implementation of ecological connectivity through planning instruments to ensure the long-term safeguarding of biodiversity and landscape permeability. Additionally, it incorporates sectoral planners into the training formats, thereby broadening the perspective on ecological connectivity beyond spatial planning and taking into account the various aspects of sectoral planning. The goal is to gain a clearer understanding of the role of ecological connectivity in the Alps and of how planning can support and guide the safeguarding of corridors and ecologically valuable areas for landscape permeability.
The PowerPoint presentation can be downloaded here from Canva and edited and adapted for specific uses and training formats, in accordance with target groups and local pilot case discussions. The presentation consists of thematic modules that can be complemented by interactive elements.
The 'Brown Bag Session' video provides a 20-minute overview of the topic. Structural and explanatory documents guide self-learners through the presentation, enabling better structuring of workshops or self-study.
