In view of the growing significance of cross-border and international cooperation, the ARL seeks on one hand to share its findings more internationally, on the other hand, ARL is shifting the focus of its work towards a more international level. Achievements in this respect have been made since the early 1990ies in different collaboration contexts, culminating in recent years in an internationalisation strategy. This strategy aims at systematically advancing the transnational aspects of the Academy’s work and thus at ensuring the international visibility of the Academy in the long term.

A Milestone for the Expansion of the ARL's International Focus

The approval of a special-purpose strategic subsidy (Kleiner Strategischer Sondertatbestand) in 2019 through the Joint Science Conference (Gemeinsame Wissenschaftskonferenz, GWK) was a milestone for this objective.

The ARL - a Think Tank for Spatial Development at the European Level

A Unique Knowledge and Communication Platform
