Book Launch - The Topology of Planning Theories: a systematization of planning knowledge

In cooperation with the Research Department Urban and Regional Research of the TU Wien and the International Working Group of the ARL "Beyond the Process" a Book Launch took place at the TU Wien on Thursday, April 27, 2023. Central aspects of the volume "The Topology of Planning Theories - A Systematization of Planning Knowledge" published by Springer were presented and put up for discussion. The event was opened by Prof. Dr. Thomas Dillinger, current president of AESOP - Association of European Schools of Planning. Afterwards Jun.-Prof. Dr. Meike Levin-Keitel (TU Dortmund) presented the approach and the main theses of the book. In the following discussion the approach of a topologization of planning theories was intensively discussed and it was worked out how different theories can be better classified in their different ranges and degrees of action orientation. After the book presentation a panel discussion was opened, in which among others Assoc. Prof. Efrat Eizenberg (TECHNION - Israel Institute of Technology) and Prof. Dr. Raine Mantysalo (Aalto University) participated. The event was moderated by Prof. Dr. Franziska Sielker (TU Wien).
