The Cable Car World trade fair and the integrated Cable Car Congress will be the first exclusive forum for urban cable cars. The event days are 21-22 June 2022. Cable Car World is planned as an attendance event. The venue is Messe Essen. The patron is the Federal Ministry of Transport and Digital Infrastructure.
The starting point is the numerous considerations in Germany and worldwide to also use urban cable cars in public transport. While traffic on the terrestrial level is faltering, the focus is increasingly on the plus-one level. Despite many advantages, such as a short construction time or positive environmental balance and the worldwide use of cable cars in urban areas, they have so far been a novelty as a component of public transport in Germany. A lack of know-how, legal ambiguities or difficulties in gaining acceptance have so far been seen as obstacles to implementation. Yet it is above all the simple overcoming of the zero level that promises new connections and relations in the urban context as well as new possibilities for the use of space.
We bring together the different actors to discuss how opportunities can be seized and obstacles overcome in the implementation of urban cable cars. There will be an opportunity to learn about and exchange perspectives on this urban means of transport. For this purpose, there will be two days of lectures by experts from science and practice, discussion rounds on the most relevant topics and a Mobility Lab. In addition, exhibition areas for manufacturers, the supplier industry, cities and regions will create space for profitable knowledge transfer and the presentation of their own projects and products.
The congress and trade fair event is aimed at people working on the topic and those interested in science, spatial planning, administration and governance (municipalities, regions, federal states, federal government), business and civil society worldwide, with a focus on the DACH region. Participation in the event is planned in attendance. Admission fees will be announced shortly.
