Call for Membership for the Review Committee of the ARL

ARL International ARL International
published on 21/05/2025

----- Application deadline extended to May 31 -----

The ARL has reorganised the application and review process for setting up working formats (e.g. working groups) and now provides an online form for applications to be submitted as well as fixed submission and decision deadlines. Applications are to be assessed by an independent Review Committee. These quality-assured measures are intended to make the application and decision-making process transparent and accelerated.

The Executive Committee therefore invites active Academy members to express their interest in participating in the Review Committee in 2025 and 2026 and to help shape the content-related work of the ARL in this important function.

Background and objectives

The Executive Commitee's previous advisory group has been developed into an Review Committee with internal and external participation, which uses a publicly accessible catalogue of criteria in terms of content and form to compare the applications received and submits proposals to the Executive Committee for decisions on the establishment or rejection of working bodies.

The Review Committee should be composed as follows:

- A vice president as chair (without voting rights)

- The Equal Opportunities Officer of the ARL (without voting rights)

- Three members of the Academy

- Two external reviewers

The names of the members of the Review Committee and the dates of their meetings will be published on the ARL website.

Vice-President Prof Dr Jochen Monstadt will chair the Review Committee in 2025 and 2026.

Organisation

The Review Committee deals with all applications for the establishment of new temporary working bodies, i.e. working groups (national, international, ad hoc), working groups of the Regional ARL Forums and the Forum Nachwuchs and European Working Groups, as well as applications for the prolongation of ARL Expert Forums.

The Review Committee meets up to four times a year, depending on the application situation, and is synchronised with the dates of the Executive Committee meetings. The meetings of the Review Committee can take place in person, as a video conference or as a hybrid meeting.

The Review Committee receives administrative support from the ARL office.

Your expression of interest

The Call for Membership aimes at members of the Academy from academia and practice. Younger colleagues are expressly invited to express their interest. In the composition of the Review committee, care will be taken to ensure that the genders and age groups, academia and practice, as well as various specialist disciplines and the international perspective are represented. The members of the Review Committee should have a broad knowledge of ARL-relevant topics.

If you feel addressed and are interested in participating in the ARL Review Committee in the years 2025 and 2026, please send your application by
