International Conference on Gender and Sustainable Development in the Post-Pandemic

The pandemic has brought to the surface the need to move forward to promote gender equality in the urban planning of cities by making them more inclusive. In this context of the Post-Pandemic Recovery Plans, the 2030 Agenda, the New Urban Agenda and other relevant international frameworks, the Conference “Gender and Sustainable Development in the Post-Pandemic” will be held in Valencia on October 21st and 22nd.

A forum that will put at the center of the debate more inclusive planning initiatives that contribute to the elimination of inequalities and promote the autonomy of women in the territories they inhabit, in their streets and their neighborhoods, thus tracing the future steps for the implementation of actions applicable to governments at national, regional and local levels.

In this conference framework organized by the UNESCO Chair in Gender in Science, Technology and Innovation of the Polytechnic University of Madrid and AGGI UN Habitat (Gender Advisory Group of the Executive Director of UN Habitat) we will present the “Declaration: Women for a new sustainable development after the pandemic”, which will translate international standards of gender equality and women’s empowerment to the local level, providing recommendations and good practices based on successful experiences.
