New Publication: Urban–rural interdependencies from an Earth system’s view
We are pleased to share a new publication developed within the Leibniz Research Network “Earth and Societies”, led by Dr. Barbara Warner with a team of authors from the Leibniz Research Network Earth & Societies and recently published in Environmental Science & Policy.
Urban–rural interdependencies from an Earth system’s view – Principles and perspectives leading to new integrative and transformative research explores how urban and rural areas are interwoven within the Earth system – and what this implies for research and practice in times of multiple crises.
The article outlines guiding principles for transformative and integrative research at the intersection of spatial planning, Earth system science, and societal change.
This publication reflects the collaborative efforts within the Leibniz Research Network “Earth and Societies” and aims to inspire new frameworks for understanding and governing urban–rural interdependencies in a planetary context.
