On 18 September 2025 (9:00–12:00 CEST), VASAB will host an online workshop on good planning and cooperation practices in the Baltic Sea Region.

The workshop will provide a space for inspiration and discussion on how cross-country cooperation can better support spatial planners. Insights from a recent survey of 96 planners across the region have already highlighted strong interest in:

  • Regional- and local-level networks
  • Knowledge-sharing on climate change adaptation, shrinking towns/regions, and integration of sectoral policies
  • Practical tools such as GIS, land-use models, participation methods, and scenario techniques

The event will bring together spatial planners from local, regional, and national authorities, as well as existing cooperation networks. It is part of the Land-Based Planners’ Forum project, which aims to establish a new platform for exchange and collaboration among planners in the Baltic Sea Region.

The project is funded by the Svenska institutet (Swedish Institute) and led by Nordregio in partnership with Stockholm University, the ARL – Academy for Territorial Development in the Leibniz Association, the Estonian Association for Spatial Planners, VASAB, and other strategic partners across the Baltic Sea Region.

We look forward to your participation!
