PhD Video Challenge 2025
Buildings & Cities and the ARL are once again calling on all doctoral students to take part in the Video Challenge.
Our Video Challenge is all about the diverse perspectives and ideas of PhD students from a wide range of countries in the field of the built environment. We want to show which topics are currently being researched and which problems are being worked on worldwide.
The topic of this video competition is ‘WHY IT MATTERS’. This is your opportunity to explain the significance of your research in relation to important societal issues and give an overview of your potential contribution to answering these questions.
Together with Buildings & Cities, we will host all videos on Vimeo to showcase them to the public. Our jury will honour the best videos with prize money.

Never made a video before? That's not a problem! A range of online materials and links to tutorials will help you with your first shoot.
You can register to take part in the challenge on the website between 6 and 14 October 2025. After registering, you will receive instructions on how to upload your video.
