"The Future is Now!”

Take part in the ARL photo competition 2025 and surprise us with your view of a sustainable future!

The global challenges of our time – multiple crises and challenges including climate change, biodiversity loss and social inequality– make one thing clear: bold steps are needed towards a sustainable and just society. The change we need deeply impacts society and demands a ‘Great Transformation‘ towards a post-fossil, resource-conserving, and land-protecting future. This transformation is evident not only in scientific and political discourse but also visible and tangible in our everyday spaces.

On the occasion of the ARL Congress 2025 in Halle an der Saale, the Academy for Territorial Development in the Leibniz Association (ARL) invites you to capture the socio-ecological transformation in images: How is this change visible in our cities and regions? What successes, as well as conflicts and challenges, shape the socio-ecological transformation of our living spaces? From sustainable energy projects and new mobility concepts to biodiversity-friendly agriculture – show us through your photos what transformation means to you.
