International conference of the Leibniz Research Network Knowledge for Sustainable Development 

5–6 May 2022

After more than two years of fruitful project work, the OpenSpaceAlps project is approaching its end. The central project results will be presented at a final conference and discussed with relevant stakeholders. The conference will be held along with the annual meeting of the AlpPlan network. The conference will take place on 31 May and 01 June 2022 in Bolzano/Bozen, South Tyrol (Italy) at Eurac Research.

On February 24th 2022, the project "Gender Perspectives on Energy Transition" held its first (online) expert workshop with 10 experts from the fields of spatial planning, sustainability sciences and energy transformation research whose work focuses on gender perspectives, landscape and/or governance. During the day, they discussed the research design as well as first insights from work package 1 “Theoretical foundation and operationalisation”.

The Academy for Territorial Development in the Leibniz Association (ARL) is currently establishing an international working group (IAK) “Urban Planning for Health Equity” and looking for participants. The members of the working group will work for approximately three years together and address the topic from inter- and transdisciplinary perspectives.

New thematic collection online!

‘Conversations in Planning Theory and Practice’ is a collaborative e-publication project between the Young Academic network and AESOP (Association of European Schools of Planning).

This new position paper contains assessments and recommendations related to key spatial challenges of transnational relevance in the Alpine region.

The Cable Car World trade fair and the integrated Cable Car Congress will be the first exclusive forum for urban cable cars. The event days are 21-22 June 2022. Cable Car World is planned as an attendance event. The venue is Messe Essen. The patron is the Federal Ministry of Transport and Digital Infrastructure.

The aim of this special issue is to collect inspiring and relevant cases of recent developments in land policies from different countries. By thus, the issue opens up a discussion and allows for reflecting viable pathways on sustainable urban development through land policies.
