Hesse/Rhineland-Palatinate/Saarland

Introduction

The Hesse/ Rhineland-Palatinate /Saarland working group is one of seven regional working groups of the ARL – the Academy for Territorial Development in the Leibniz Association.

Across its three member states, the working group represents very heterogeneous spatial structures, with the Frankfurt/Rhine-Main conurbation contrasting sharply with the rural areas of Rhineland-Palatinate, Hesse and Saarland.

With Saarland and parts of Rhineland-Palatinate, intensive transnational relations (with France, Luxembourg and Belgium) are also part of the spatial structure.
